Dentures or False Teeth
Dentures are removable false teeth to replace missing teeth. They are an alternative and affordable way to dental bridges and dental implants for replacing missing teeth. Today’s dentures look more natural and are more comfortable than before.
Depending on the number of missing teeth, you might need a partial or full denture.
Complete dentures
Full dentures replace all of your teeth in the upper or lower jaws. It suits patients who have lost most or all of their natural teeth. It takes several weeks before they are inserted because the gum must heal from the extractions.
Partial dentures
Partial dentures suit patients who have lost just one or a few missing teeth and wish to fill in the gap between their natural teeth.
Partial dentures can also improve chewing and speaking and preserve the position of remaining teeth in your mouth that might otherwise shift over time.
How to clean and take care of the dentures?
After this initial period that you have to wear your denture constantly you have to:
- brush your dentures with toothpaste twice a day to remove food deposits and plaque
- soak them in a denture-cleaning solution to remove stains and bacteria
- brush them again gently as you would your normal teeth
It is advised that you remove your dentures at night while you sleep to allow your gum to rest. Leave the dentures in a glass full of water or an overnight dental cleaning solution advised by your dentist.
How much do dentures cost?
The price of dentures depends on the type of false teeth you need and the materials that are used. It can vary between 900$ to 1600$ for partial dentures acrylic or metallic
and between 5000$ to 10000$ for dentures over implants. However, all the prices listed above are just a guideline and they can vary in special cases.
