What are dental implants?
A dental implant is a titanium screw inserted into the jawbone to replace the root of the natural tooth. Once the implant is placed, the surrounding bone will gradually fuse with it, holding it firmly in place.
Then an artificial replacement tooth (Crown) is then placed on top of the implant which matches the color and shape of your existing teeth. The implant is an anchor to hold the replacement tooth (Crown) in place.
Dental implants are also used to hold a dental bridge or dentures in place.
